Gilbert Rukundo (born February 1, 1990) is a Rwandan entrepreneur, event promoter, music executive, graphic designer, and former model. He is the founder and chief executive of Evolve Music Group, an entertainment company based in Rwanda. Rukundo is known for organizing concerts and music festivals featuring artists from across Africa, including the Fuego Festival, and for his contributions to Rwanda's entertainment industry.

Early life and education

Gilbert Rukundo was born on February 1, 1990, in Kigali, Rwanda. He attended APADE, where he completed his kindergarten and primary education through Primary 6. He later enrolled at IFAK Secondary School, where he studied for one year before transferring to École Saint Patrick.

At the age of 16, Rukundo moved to the Philippines to continue his education. He earned a Bachelor of Information Technology from AMA University. During his time in the Philippines, he also worked as a part-time fashion model, appearing in catalogues and participating in fashion shows.

Career

Early entertainment career

While studying in the Philippines, Rukundo founded "Superstar Magazine," an online men's lifestyle magazine. The publication focused on fashion, entertainment, and lifestyle and introduced him to the country's entertainment industry.

At the age of 19, he began working as an event promoter with several well-known nightlife venues in Manila, including "LAX," "Ascend," and "Bureau." He organized a variety of events, including pool parties, nightclub events, and charity functions.

'Return to Rwanda'

In 2012, Rukundo returned to Rwanda to pursue a full-time career in entertainment. He continued organizing events and established "Superstar Studio," a music recording studio.

From 2014 to 2016, he worked as a graphic designer at "Clouds TV," where he was involved in television graphics and visual design.

Event promotion and publishing

In 2017, Rukundo organized "MY250," a concert featuring Nigerian recording artist "Tekno."

The same year, he co-founded "FEEL MAGAZINE," a print publication covering fashion, education, entertainment, and lifestyle in Rwanda.

Evolve Music Group

In 2021, Rukundo founded "Evolve Music Group (EMG)," an entertainment company specializing in artist management, music promotion, and event production. Through the company, he has worked with several Rwandan artists, including Kevin Kade, France, Gabiro Guitar, and Khalfan Govinda.

In 2022, Evolve Music Group organized "Drunk in Love," featuring Nigerian artist Ycee. Later that year, the company produced "Trappish 2," which featured Rwandan rapper Ish Kevin alongside Nigerian artist Singah.

Fuego Festival'

In 2025, Rukundo launched Fuego Festival, an annual music festival aimed at bringing international and regional artists to Rwanda.

The inaugural edition was headlined by South African producer and 'DJ Tyler ICU'. The festival's second edition featured South African DJ and producer DJ Maphorisa alongside South African performer Juss Gigi..
