Shinwon Corporation (Korean: 신원) is a South Korean fashion and apparel company headquartered in Seoul. Established in 1973 by Chairman Park Sung-chul, it is one of the country's leading fashion retailers, known for brands such as Besti Belli, Si, and Sieg.
The company is historically significant for being the first South Korean entity to successfully operate and post profits in the Kaesong Industrial Region in North Korea, symbolizing inter-Korean economic cooperation.[1]
History
Founded as Shinwon Trade Corporation in 1973, the company initially focused on textile exports. In 1990, it launched its domestic fashion division with the women's brand Besti Belli, followed by Si in the same year. It expanded into men's fashion with the launch of Sieg in 1995.
