Rabbi Simcha Halevi Bamberger (1832 – 1897) was the Av Beit Din of Aschaffenburg in Bavaria, and the son of Rabbi Seligman Baer Bamberger, one of the greatest rabbis of Germany.

Biography

He taught for two years at the Teachers' Seminary in Colmar (Alsace). In 1935 he was appointed as the Av Beit Din of Fishach, where he served for 26 years.

In 1942, he began serving as rabbi of the Ashpenburg community, after the passing of the previous rabbi, Rabbi Avraham Adler.

He died on December 9th, 1897 (14 Kislev, 5658).

Descendants

His son, Rabbi Moshe Aryeh Bamberger, was a rabbi in Shanlenka (now Trzeczyński).
His grandson is Rabbi Dr. Simcha (Simon) Bamberger, a rabbi in Stuttgart, Germany, and a public activist in Bnei Brak.

His great-grandson is Rabbi Yehoshua Yeshaya Neuwirth, Rosh Yeshiva and author of the book Shmirat Shabbat Kehilatah.
His great-grandson is Rabbi Mordechai Halevi Bamberger, head of the Glasgow kollel, and his son Rabbi Shlomo Yaakov, director of the organization Darachi Chesed.
