Snipp Interactive Inc. is a Canadian software company that provides promotions, rebates, and loyalty program platforms for consumer brands. Founded in 2007, the company is listed on the TSX Venture Exchange and quoted on the OTC Markets.[1]

History

Founding and early years (2007–2014)

Snipp Interactive was founded in 2007 by Atul Sabharwal and Ritesh Bhavnani, initially focusing on mobile marketing and SMS campaigns.[2] The company went public on the TSX Venture Exchange in 2012.[2]

Acquisitions and expansion (2015–present)

In February 2015, Snipp acquired the customer-loyalty management unit of Swiss Post Solutions Ireland for approximately CHF 1.08 million.[3] In June 2015, the company acquired California-based HIP Digital Media Inc., a digital content rewards platform, for US$8.5 million in stock. The acquisition was covered by The Wall Street Journal and CanTech Letter, which noted the deal was expected to contribute over C$4 million in revenue in the second half of 2015.[4] In September 2018, Snipp acquired Ziploop Inc., a machine learning-based promotions and loyalty technology firm.[5] In February 2022, Snipp acquired Gambit Digital Promotions Inc. (Gambit Rewards), a loyalty-gaming platform linking reward points with free-to-play sports and iGaming, for US$5 million. The deal was reported by SBC Americas as part of Snipp's strategy to enter the gaming loyalty space.[6]

Bally's Corporation investment

In April 2022, Bally's Corporation purchased approximately 9 percent of Snipp for US$5 million and entered commercial agreements to integrate Snipp's loyalty platform into Bally's casino properties. Coverage in Casino.org noted that Bally's aimed to transition Gambit's social gaming users into real-money patrons at its physical casinos and online platforms.[7] Gaming industry publications Yogonet International and Gaming America reported that the deal included a three-year license for Snipp's loyalty software platform across Bally's physical and online properties, with Bally's receiving an option to license the source code for US$10 million.[8][9] Bally's executive Adi Dhandhania served on Snipp's board from 2022 to 2023.[10]

Platform and clients

Snipp's platform provides receipt validation services using optical character recognition (OCR) technology. In 2014, Retail Dive reported that consumer brands including Arm & Hammer had used the technology for promotional campaigns.[11] In September 2025, Snipp partnered with Inmar Intelligence to distribute digital grocery incentives through financial institutions.[12][13]

Regulatory matters

In May 2025, the British Columbia Securities Commission issued a cease trade order against Snipp related to a filing delay.[14] Trading on the TSX Venture Exchange resumed on 12 June 2025 following revocation of the order.[15][16] The company had resolved a similar cease trade order in early 2024.[17]

Recognition

Snipp was included in the TSX Venture 50 rankings in 2015 and 2016 in the Technology & Life Sciences category.[18][19] The company ranked on Deloitte's Technology Fast 500, a listing of the fastest-growing technology companies in North America, placing 49th in 2016, 114th in 2017, and 312th in 2018.[20]
