TNMplot.com is a web-based bioinformatics platform for comparing gene expression levels across normal, tumor, and metastatic tissue samples.[1]

Background

The platform was developed at Semmelweis University and launched in 2021.[1] It integrates transcriptomic datasets from public repositories including the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO), The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA), and GTEx to enable comparison of gene expression between normal, primary tumor, and metastatic tissues.[1]

Methodology

TNMplot.com enables statistical comparison of gene expression using non-parametric tests including the Mann–Whitney U test and Kruskal–Wallis test. The platform provides visualization outputs such as boxplots and violin plots for comparative analysis.[1]

Use in independent research

Beyond its original description, TNMplot.com has been applied in independent peer-reviewed cancer research studies.

A study published in Frontiers in Molecular Biosciences used the TNMplot database to evaluate differential expression and prognostic relevance of PGK1 in breast cancer.[2]
