Taurasi is a 2025 American sports documentary television series directed by Katie Bender Wynn about the life and career of professional basketball player Diana Taurasi. Produced by Skydance Sports, Meadowlark Media, and Institute Pictures, in association with Difficult Media, the three-part series premiered on Amazon Prime Video on August 7, 2025.[1][2]
The series follows Taurasi from her childhood in California through her collegiate career at the University of Connecticut, her professional career with the Phoenix Mercury, and her international career, using interviews and archival footage.[3]
Premise
The series chronicles the life and basketball career of Diana Taurasi, beginning with her upbringing in Chino, California, and continuing through her success at the University of Connecticut, where she won three consecutive NCAA championships under coach Geno Auriemma. It follows her selection as the first overall pick in the 2004 WNBA Draft, her career with the Phoenix Mercury, her participation in six Olympic Games, and her experience competing professionally overseas.
The series incorporates interviews and archival footage documenting Taurasi's life and basketball career.[4]
Production
In April 2025, Variety announced that Amazon Prime Video had commissioned a three-part documentary series about Diana Taurasi directed by Katie Bender Wynn.[5]
The series was produced by Skydance Sports, Meadowlark Media, and Institute Pictures in association with Difficult Media. Executive producers included David Ellison, Jesse Sisgold, Jason Reed, and Jon Weinbach for Skydance Sports; John Skipper and Deirdre Fenton for Meadowlark Media; Lauren Greenfield and Frank Evers for Institute Pictures; and Kate Fagan and Katie Bender Wynn.
The documentary combines newly filmed interviews with archival footage documenting Taurasi's collegiate, professional, and international career.[6]
Release
The series premiered worldwide on Amazon Prime Video on August 7, 2025.[7]
Reception
In January 2026, The New York Times included Taurasi in its list of "7 Sports Documentaries to Stream Now."[8][9]
