Tim Grimm (* 27. September 1960 in Columbus, Ohio) is a US-American actor and singer-songwriter.
Life
Grimm was born in Columbus and grew up in southern Indiana. He earned a degree in political science at Earlham College and an MFA in Theatre at the University of Michigan and began working in professional regional theatre, first moving to Chicago. There, in addition to his theatrical work, he studied briefly at the Old Town School of Folk Music and began writing and performing songs.[1]
Acting career
Grimm spent several years working as an actor in Los Angeles in the 1990s, appearing for 2 seasons on the NBC drama Reasonable Doubts, in the film Clear and Present Danger with Harrison Ford, Mercury Rising and Backdraft and appeared in numerous other films and tv projects.[2]
Music career
For a number of years, Grimm played concerts as 'Tim Grimm and the Family Band' with his wife, musician Jan Lucas, and their two sons. After the separation from Lucas he now often tours with his partner, artist Alissa Branch. Grimm has recorded numerous albums. Three of his recent albums have been the #1 most-played album on International Folk Radio for the year (Stranger in this Time 2017[3], Gone 2021[4], Bones of Trees 2025[5]), and his protest ballad Broken Truth became the #1 most-played song on Folk Radio for both 2024 and 2025[6]. In February of 2026, a live recording of the song at a club in San Antonio quickly earned more than one million views on Facebook and YouTube.[7]
