Timothy Alan Pagnotta (born January 17, 1977)^[1] is an American singer-songwriter and record producer. Pagnotta was the lead singer and rhythm guitarist of the rock band Sugarcult. He transitioned into a highly successful career behind the scenes, working with major artists such as Neon Trees, Blink-182, Weezer, Walk the Moon and Elle King.^[2] Pagnotta has received ASCAP Vanguard Award, BMI Film & TV Awards and Billboard Music Awards for his work.

Timothy Alan Pagnotta was born in California on January 17, 1977 and grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area.^[1]

Pagnotta moved from the Bay Area to Santa Barbara in 1997 and enrolled at Santa Barbara City College. He left the college during his first year. He met ex-drummer Ben Davis during a cigarette break at school. Davis (who then played bass) and Pagnotta started to play together on a regular basis. Pagnotta met Airin Older in a music class where Pagnotta was copying Older's work. They became good friends and Pagnotta invited Older to join his band.^[3] Davis moved to the position of drummer and Older filled in for Davis on bass. Marko DeSantis was added into the band after meeting Pagnotta backstage at a Superdrag concert.

Sugarcult released their first collection of demo recordings, Eleven, in 1999. Their second collection, Wrap Me Up in Plastic, was released in 2000. The group sent demos to record labels,^[4] eventually signing to independent label Ultimatum Music in January 2001.^[5] Recording for their next album took place at Rumbo Recorders in Los Angeles, California with producer Matt Wallace.

In 2001, the band released their debut album, Start Static, which featured the hit singles "Pretty Girl", "Bouncing Off The Walls" (also featured in the movie and soundtrack to National Lampoon's Van Wilder) and "Stuck in America". In early 2003, "Stuck in America" won the Los Angeles Regional Poll in The 2nd Annual Independent Music Awards. Start Static featured several songs that had previously been released as demos on Wrap Me Up in Plastic. In May 2001, the band re-released Wrap Me Up in Plastic with a new track listing that included songs from both Eleven and the original Wrap Me Up in Plastic, as well as new artwork. In 2003, Davis officially left Sugarcult. Davis had been regularly missing shows since the release of Start Static, and left Sugarcult to enter rehab to get help for his alcoholism. Pagnotta was close to Davis, and wrote the song "Champagne" about his addictions when he was forced to leave the band.^[6]

Pagnotta began as a recording artist and songwriter including his writing and production duties with Neon Trees, started with Habits. In 2019, Pagnotta co-produced the Blink-182 album Nine.^[7] He is a representer of Pulse Music Group.^[8]

Pagnotta suffers from a hearing problem, tinnitus. Due to damage caused by the amplifiers on stage at Sugarcult shows, and the shows Pagnotta would attend as a fan, his ears were damaged leaving him hearing a high pitched sound in his ears frequently. Because of this, he wears earplugs on stage, as do his fellow band members.^[9] He is married to Jetta Pagnotta, whom he has described as a "wife, mom, therapist, animal wrangler, and chaos manager".^[10] The couple has children.
