• Comment: This looks to fall through several gaps. If the basis is WP:NAUTHOR then that usually requires "2 books, 2 book reviews each book", which isn't met. It doesn't look like WP:SPORTBIO can be met either. In which case it's over to the WP:GOLDENRULE where we ideally need 3 examples of significant coverage, which isn't here either. This has to be an independent, reliable source detailing the life and career of the subject, not passing references. We don't accept the Daily Mail as a source, see WP:RSP. Tim Percival (born c. 1978) is a British communications executive and author. He is known for his work in sports communications, particularly in rugby union, and for writing On the Record & On the Ball: How Elite Coaches Master the Media.

Percival was born in Boston, Lincolnshire. He began his career at sports television production company Sunset+Vine.^{[citation needed]}

In 2015, he joined the England national rugby team working alongside head coach Eddie Jones.^{[citation needed]} He remained in the role until 2017.

In September 2020, it was announced that Percival had been appointed Head of Communications for the 2021 British & Irish Lions tour to South Africa.^[1]

In 2023, he returned to the England national rugby union set-up under head coach Steve Borthwick.^[2]

Percival has contributed opinion and analysis pieces to sports media, including The Cricketer, where he wrote on media strategy and communication in elite sport,^[3] and Rugby World where he discussed the importance of confidentiality in top-level sport.^{[citation needed]} He has also been featured by Sport Industry Group, where he discussed leadership communication and media strategy in elite sport.^{[citation needed]}

Percival wrote On the Record & On the Ball: How Elite Coaches Master the Media (Fairfield Books), published in 2025. It was shortlisted for Sports Entertainment Book of the Year at the 2026 Sports Book Awards,^[4] and received reviews in media outlets including the New Zealand Herald ^[5] and The Independent,^[6] as well as specialist rugby media such as Planet Rugby.^[7] The Sports Journalists’ Association described it as "invaluable" and "required reading" for students of journalism^[8] and The Sports Gazette as a “fun and informative read” and “one of the most relevant and contemporary works on the topic." ^[9]

Percival has also served as a Non-executive director of the National Counties Cricket Championship and Arundel Castle Cricket Ground.^{[citation needed]}
