Tom Adeyoola is a British technology entrepreneur and public-sector innovation leader. He is the Executive Chair of Innovate UK.[1]

Adeyoola is the founder of Metail, a fashion-technology company, based in Cambridge and London, focused on virtual fitting-room technology. He founded the company in 2008 and led it until its sale in 2019.[2]

Career

Adeyoola has worked in technology, entrepreneurship, investment and business strategy. According to UK Research and Innovation, he has more than 25 years' experience in the startup ecosystem.[1]

Adeyoola has also held board and advisory roles. He has served on the board of Channel 4 and St Paul's School, and has been involved with Elvie, Verco, Extend Ventures, the Creative Industries Taskforce and the Startup Coalition.[1]

Innovate UK

In March 2025, Adeyoola was announced as the preferred candidate for Executive Chair of Innovate UK by Science Minister Lord Vallance.[3]

Following a pre-appointment hearing, the House of Commons Science, Innovation and Technology Committee endorsed his appointment in April 2025.[4]

Publications and policy work

Adeyoola co-authored the Start-Up, Scale-Up review, which examined how the United Kingdom could improve conditions for starting and growing businesses.[5]
