Torsten Haß is a German administrative lawyer and politician representing the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD). Since January 2024, he has served as the First City Councillor (Erster Stadtrat) of Osterholz-Scharmbeck.^[1][2]

Haß spent approximately eleven years as a senior official in the city administration of Erfurt. In 2012, he was appointed head of the municipal Social Welfare Office (Sozialamt).^[3]His work in this role focused on the management of social services and local welfare infrastructure.^[3]

In December 2023, he resigned from his positions in Erfurt to move to Lower Saxony.^[4]

In November 2023, the city council of Osterholz-Scharmbeck elected Haß as First City Councillor, a role in which he serves as the general deputy to the mayor.^[1]His administrative responsibilities include overseeing local urban development, such as the renovation projects on Mozartstraße.^[5]He has also been involved in the city's "Engagementlotsen" program, which trains volunteers to support local civic projects.^[6]
