TreePines is a Greek electronic music project by musician and producer Makis Dafopoulos (also known as Makdaf), based in Athens.
The project is known for releases in the lounge, chillout, downtempo and electronic genres on labels including Huwy Records and FM Records.[1][2] It has been the subject of interviews and features in Greek media outlets such as in.gr, News247, Athens Voice, CultureNow, Full–Time and Mad TV.[3][4][5]
Background
Makis Dafopoulos began his musical career playing in rock bands before transitioning to electronic and chillout music in the mid-2010s.[2] He established TreePines as a platform for his atmospheric compositions focused on mood and texture.[6]
Career
TreePines debuted with releases on the Italian label Huwy Records.[1] In 2020, FM Records released the album Save Your Time,[3] followed by Up Down in 2021, which addressed emotional themes related to the COVID-19 pandemic.[4][5]
The project has been profiled in the Greek press for its role in the local chillout and electronic music scene.[7]
Style
TreePines incorporates lounge, chillout and downtempo elements with electronic production, sometimes including ethnic influences.[6][2] Dafopoulos has stated that the aim is to evoke specific emotions and mental imagery in listeners.[4][6]
