Trevor Haumschilt-Rocha is an American operatic baritone. He has performed internationally with companies including the Volksoper Wien and Zürich Opera House, and achieved major recognition by winning first prize at the inaugural Sumi Jo International Singing Competition in 2026.
Early life and education
Haumschilt-Rocha was raised in San Diego, California. He attended San Diego State University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Vocal Performance. He pursued graduate studies at The Juilliard School, earning a Master of Music degree in 2024.[1] During his training, he also participated as a Renée Fleming Fellow at the Aspen Music Festival and School.[2]
Career
Haumschilt-Rocha made his professional operatic debut in 2023 performing the role of Doctor Malatesta in Don Pasquale with Opera Saratoga under the direction of Lawrence Edelson.[1] Following his graduation from Juilliard, he moved to Europe to join the Opernstudio of the Volksoper Wien for their 2024–2026 seasons.[1] During his residency in Vienna, his roles included the title role in Gianni Schicchi, Papageno in The Magic Flute (Die Zauberflöte), and Moralès in Carmen.[1]
His European engagements have included debuting at the Zürich Opera House as Monterone in Rigoletto, as well as appearances at the Salzburg Festival, where he was a member of the prestigious Young Singers Project.[1] For the 2026–2027 season, he was selected to join the Paris Opera Lyric Troupe (Troupe Lyrique de l'Opéra de Paris), scheduling debuts at both the Palais Garnier and Opéra Bastille.[1]
