Trinity CineAsia is a film distributor based in the United Kingdom that releases films from East Asia for theatrical and home entertainment in the UK, Ireland and Europe.
History
Trinity Filmed Entertainment was founded by Cedric Behrel and Robin Gbrich in 2006 as a UK all-rights film distributor.[1] It released films including Incendies, This Must Be the Place, Jack Goes Boating and Import/Export. In 2012, Trinity released British documentary A Man's Story in the UK as well as the United States with a limited theatrical run.
In December 2014, the company acquired the CineAsia label, a UK home media distribution operation of Asian martial arts and action cinema established in 2007. It continued to release Chinese-language and East Asian films of different genres as Trinity CineAsia and expanded the CineAsia brand to commercial theatrical distribution.[2]
In 2022, it released Hong Kong title Chilli Laugh Story in the UK, US and Canada, its first CineAsia release outside of the UK and Ireland, followed by Mama's Affair and Everything Under Control.[3][4]
In 2023, it expanded from English-speaking territories, acquiring Creation of the Gods I: Kingdom of Storms for the UK, Ireland, France and Spain.[5]
In 2024, Trinity CineAsia released the 27th Detective Conan anime feature, Detective Conan: The Million-dollar Pentagram, marking the first film in the franchise's 26 years to be released in the UK and Ireland.[6] The company has remained the region's distributor of the Detective Conan films since.[7]
It has continued releasing films in Europe. Ne Zha 2 was distributed by Trinity CineAsia across 37 territories including the UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Benelux and Scandinavia.[8] Other European releases include Detective Chinatown 1900, Dongji Rescue, Back to the Past, Blades of the Guardians or Dear You.
