WONDERLAB (Chinese: Wanyilan WONDERLAB), registered as Shenzhen Meili Nutrition Technology Co., Ltd., is a Chinese biotechnology company engaged in the research of probiotic supplements.[1] Founded in 2019 and headquartered in Shenzhen. [2]It invested RMB 50 million to build a green smart-manufacturing base in the Longgang District of Shenzhen, and in 2023 established an independent probiotics laboratory.[3][4]
History
WONDERLAB was founded in 2019.[2]In August 2021, Temasek invested in the company.[1] In May 2023, "WONDERLAB" was formally renamed "Wanyilan WONDERLAB"[1] . Also in 2023, the China Gut Conference was held in Beijing — hosted by organizations including the Heart of Gut Research Institute and the Second Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University, and co-organized by bodies including the Beijing Institute of Life Sciences and the Institute of Microbiology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. WONDERLAB hosted the "Evidence-Based Nutrition Conference — Forum on Evidence-Based Science and Frontier Applications of Probiotics," held as part of the conference.[5]
Research
Through collaboration with research institutions including the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, and the China National Research Institute of Food and Fermentation Industries, WONDERLAB conducts efficacy-validation and mechanism research on probiotics in areas such as immune support and allergy relief.[6][7] In March 2025, a "Tropical Probiotics Joint Research Center" jointly established with Hainan University was inaugurated.[8] In June, together with the China National Research Institute of Food and Fermentation Industries, the company established the "Targeted-Microbiome Functional Prebiotics Collaborative Innovation Center."[9] In October, in collaboration with the State Key Laboratory of Microbial Technology at Shandong University, it established the "Shandong University–WONDERLAB Targeted-Microbiome Metabolic Health Joint Laboratory." [10]
