WeRoad is an Italian group travel company based in Milan. It was founded in 2017 by Paolo De Nadai, Fabio Bin, and Erika De Santi as part of OneDay Group, an Italian incubator focused on consumer brands aimed at Millennials and Generation Z.[1][2] The company organises small-group trips, mainly for young adults travelling individually, with itineraries led by group leaders who are not professional tour guides.[1]

In May 2026, Airbnb led a $58 million Series C funding round in WeRoad, taking a stake of approximately 10 percent and a seat on the board. The investment supports WeRoad's first expansion outside Europe, into the United States.[3][4]

History

WeRoad was launched in Italy in 2017 by Paolo De Nadai, Fabio Bin, and Erika De Santi within OneDay Group.[2] The company initially focused on the Italian market, developing a format based on small-group itineraries for young adult travellers.[1] Between 2018 and 2021, WeRoad expanded its destinations beyond Italy, adding itineraries across Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas.[1]

WeRoad began its international expansion in 2019, entering Spain and the United Kingdom, followed by Germany and France.[5] In 2024, La Repubblica reported that WeRoad had extended its offering to allow travellers from different European countries to join the same departures.[6]

In 2022, Andrea D'Amico was appointed Chief Executive Officer. According to PhocusWire, D'Amico had previously held senior roles at Booking.com.[7]

In November 2023, WeRoad raised €18 million in a Series B funding round led by H14, the investment firm of the Berlusconi family, bringing total funding to approximately €36 million.[8][9]

In May 2026, the company raised $58 million (about €49 million) in a Series C round led by Airbnb, with the participation of existing investors including H14.[3][4] The round brought total funding to about $100 million.[10] As part of the transaction, Airbnb took a stake of approximately 10 percent and a board seat, while D'Amico left WeRoad to lead Airbnb's hotels division.[11]

In 2025, WeRoad reported revenues of €130 million.[12] In 2026, the Financial Times included the company in its list of Europe's fastest-growing companies.[12]

Operations

WeRoad sells fixed-itinerary group trips through its website and mobile application. Groups typically include between 8 and 15 travellers and are accompanied by a group leader who is not a professional tour guide.[3][1] Most participants join individually rather than as part of pre-existing groups, and international flights are generally not included in the company's itineraries.[1] According to the company, more than 300,000 travellers had used the platform across more than 1,000 itineraries as of 2026.[13]

In 2025, WeRoad launched WeMeet, a platform for in-person local events such as dinners, hikes, sports activities, and wellness sessions, open to non-customers.[14] The company has stated that WeMeet will be used as part of its entry into the United States market, which it plans to begin in Austin, Texas.[4]
