Welbeck, previously known as OneWelbeck, is a private healthcare facility at 1 Welbeck Street in Marylebone, London. The facility provides private outpatient, diagnostic and day-surgery services across a range of medical specialties. It is located close to the Harley Street medical area and is associated with Welbeck Health Partners, a private healthcare group focused on specialist-led outpatient and day-case care.^[1][2][3]

The building at 1 Welbeck Street was originally associated with Debenhams’ post-war redevelopment of its Marylebone and Oxford Street estate. According to the Survey of London, Debenhams’ local redevelopment in the 1960s and 1970s began with head offices at 1 Welbeck Street, developed between 1962 and 1964.^[4]

The wider Debenhams estate in the area included the former Welbeck Street car park, which was built opposite the head-office site as part of the retailer’s local redevelopment programme.^[5]

In 2011, Debenhams’ London base at Welbeck Street was sold to Scottish Widows Investment Partnership. At the time of the sale, the site had planning consent for redevelopment including office, retail and residential space.^[6]

Welbeck Health Partners was founded in 2016 by healthcare managers and clinicians. The organisation states that its model was developed following research into international day-case care systems.^[7]

OneWelbeck opened at 1 Welbeck Street in 2019, in the refitted former Debenhams head-office building. The Financial Times has described the facility as part of a wider shift in UK private healthcare towards diagnostics, outpatient care and day-case procedures.^[8]

The facility has operated under the OneWelbeck name and is now also branded as Welbeck.^[9]

The conversion of 1 Welbeck Street involved the adaptation of former commercial office space into a private healthcare facility. Project sources describe the work as a phased redevelopment and fit-out of the building for medical use.^[10]

The first phase of works included diagnostic imaging and clinical facilities, including MRI, X-ray and CT imaging, operating theatres, consulting rooms and recovery facilities.^[11]

Welbeck is located at 1 Welbeck Street, London, W1G 0AR. The facility provides private healthcare services including outpatient consultations, diagnostic imaging, endoscopy and day-surgery services.

Services associated with the facility include digestive health, heart health, surgery, urology, ophthalmology, women’s health, orthopaedics, skin health and allergy, ear, nose and throat, imaging and diagnostics. Bupa Finder lists Welbeck London as a recognised facility for services including CT, MRI, endoscopy, cataract services and ophthalmic services.

The Financial Times has described OneWelbeck as a nine-floor private healthcare facility with consultants working across multiple specialist groups. The same report noted that the facility includes MRI and CT scanners and provides diagnostics and day procedures.^[12]

The Times called Welbeck a "nine-floor private healthcare department store" in the context of seeking health assessment and longevity screening.^[13]

Several services operating from 1 Welbeck Street are registered with the Care Quality Commission, including OneWelbeck Surgery,^[14] OneWelbeck Heart Health,^[15] OneWelbeck Endoscopy Centre,^[16] OneWelbeck Orthopaedics,^[17] OneWelbeck Women’s Health,^[18] OneWelbeck Skin Health and Allergy,^[19] and OneWelbeck Ear, Nose & Throat.^[20]

OneWelbeck Surgery is listed by the Care Quality Commission at 1 Welbeck Street, London, W1G 0AR, with an overall rating of Good.^[21] OneWelbeck Heart Health is also listed by the Care Quality Commission at the same address with an overall rating of Good.^[22]

Welbeck London operates as a private healthcare facility. Its services are primarily used by private patients, including patients with private medical insurance, such as Bupa, AXA, Vitality and Aviva.

Healthcare Business International has described Welbeck Health Partners as an outpatient and day-surgery group operating from the OneWelbeck facility in London’s West End.^[23]

Welbeck Health Partners has also announced expansion plans outside London. LaingBuisson has reported on planned Welbeck Health Partners facilities in Cambridge^[24] and Oxfordshire^[25], while describing the company as the operator of central London’s OneWelbeck.
