Witch Ripper is an American sludge metal and progressive metal band from Seattle, Washington. The band is known for combining elements of sludge metal, doom metal, progressive rock, and hardcore punk. The group's music has drawn comparisons to bands such as Mastodon and Baroness.[1]

History

Witch Ripper formed in Seattle, Washington, and first gained attention in the Pacific Northwest metal scene through the release of its self-titled debut EP. In 2015, the band was selected as the top unsigned metal band from Washington State in a nationwide feature by Toilet Ov Hell.[2]

The band's debut full-length album, Homestead, was released in 2018. The album received coverage from Decibel Magazine, which described the band as one of Seattle's "best-kept secrets".[3]

Witch Ripper continued to develop a more progressive sound on subsequent releases, including The Flight After the Fall (2023) and Through the Hourglass (2026).[4]

In 2024, the band performed with Dethklok during a Seattle-area tour stop.[5]
