Hampton attended high school at Aurora Christian Schools located in Aurora, Illinois. In Hampton's sophomore season, he threw for 2,457 yards and 31 touchdowns along with 13 interceptions.[1] During Hampton's junior season he would throw for 2,130 yards and 28 touchdowns with just five interceptions.[2] Coming out of high school, Hampton was rated as a three-star recruit, where he committed to play college football for the Northern Illinois Huskies.[3][4]
College career
During Hampton's first three seasons at Northern Illinois, he appeared in eleven games while making for starts for the Huskies where he completed 95 of his 165 passes for 968 yards and nine touchdowns with eight interceptions.[5][6][7] In week one of the 2024 season, Hampton earned the Huskies starting job where he completed 18 of his 20 pass attempts for 328 yards and five touchdowns, as he helped Northern Illinois to a win over Western Illinois.[8] For his performance he was named the MAC offensive player of the week.[9] In week two, Hampton completed ten of his nineteen passing attempts for 198 yards and a touchdown, as he helped the Huskies pull off one of the biggest upsets, taking down #5 Notre Dame.[10]
