Flash Fiber
Flash Fiber S.r.l. was an Italian company active in the telecommunications sector to build or complete FTTH fiber-optic networks.[3] Founded in 2016, in 2021 it ceased its activities as a result of the merger by incorporation into the new company FiberCop S.p.A.[4][5] HistoryIn 2016, Flash Fiber was born, a joint venture 80% controlled by Telecom Italia and the remaining 20% by Fastweb, established with the aim of accelerating the construction of ultra-broadband infrastructures. In particular, based on the Coinvestment Agreement, Flash Fiber aims to build fiber-optic networks in FTTH (fiber-to-the-home) architecture in 29 cities.[3] In March 2020, TIM (formerly Telecom Italia) created a new wholesale company called FiberCop, into which it will merge the secondary fiber and copper network, from cabinets to homes, and KKR will acquire a 40% stake equal to 1.8 billion on the basis of an enterprise value of 7.5 billion.[4] Subsequently, in August 2020, Fastweb entered FiberCop by selling its share in Flash Fiber.[6] In April 2021, Flash Fiber definitively ceased its activities in favor of the new company FiberCop, managed by TIM (58%), KKR (37.5%) and Fastweb (4.5%).[7] References
