2-hydroxyacyl-CoA lyase 1 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the HACL1 gene. It produces a 2-Hydroxyphytanoyl-CoA lyase.[5]

Function

The product is a peroxisomal enzyme involved in the catabolism of phytanoic acid by α-oxidation. It requires thiamine diphosphate (ThDP) as cofactor.[6]

The corresponding EC number is 4.1.2.63.
