Wikipedia suddenly does not want to log me in
This is the user of this pageUser:Middle East bird study, I registered with a username but did nor need my email. I have tried logging in but it is refusing to allow me, instead opting with a strange jumbled word capcha that i have to complete. I have put the right password, I know my right password and have successfully logged in before, but it seems to be obstructing me despite this, saying that i have to try again in 5 minutes 178.152.156.164 (talk) 15:21, 17 May 2024 (UTC)
- Per the box at the top, this is not the page to ask for help. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 23:02, 17 May 2024 (UTC)
- I confirm that correct login information is sometimes refused and a CAPTCHA test is required when logging in to an account that does not have a registered email address. This has happened to me several times since I removed the email address from my account (which I did because I don't always have easy access to that email system and I became unable to log in when traveling after the login system changed). If I recall correctly (and I plan to double-check this), the system gives an incorrect error message when this happens – saying the login information was incorrect even though it was correct. I have modified the information provided on the help page to provide information about this. — BarrelProof (talk) 16:09, 23 August 2025 (UTC)
Can't keep me logged in
I cleared all data on Firefox but I can't stay logged in for one year. Achmad Rachmani (talk) 00:40, 17 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Achmad Rachmani: Please see Wikipedia:Village pump (technical)#"Remember me" not working as intended for me. Also, when posting here, you will have been shown a box with the text "This is not the page to ask for help" in big letters. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 08:34, 17 August 2024 (UTC)

Updating discussion of IP addresses
As of 4 November, it seems that the discussion of IP addresses in this article is out of date. See, e.g., WP:IP users. — BarrelProof (talk) 03:28, 9 November 2025 (UTC)

Help:Logging in → Help:Creating an account and logging in – Hello,
This page is about account creation and logging in, but only reflects the latter. Can we rename this page to Help:Creating an account and logging in to reflect what currently exists here?
The impetus for this request was that I made a new video to replace the old account creation tutorial video (which was at the top of the page) and wanted it to go on a page with a name reflective of its content. I've also reorganized the page a bunch to be cleaner and more logical. JuxtaposedJacob (talk) | :) | he/him | 22:36, 2 July 2026 (UTC) — Relisting. 1isall (talk | contribs) 22:53, 9 July 2026 (UTC)
- Oppose Why not just "Creating an account"? I think that implies logging in, and, if the article is titled "Logging in", it conversely implies creating an account. Per WP:CONCISE, there is no reason to spell out both. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ (ᴛ) 13:30, 8 July 2026 (UTC)
- Logging in often includes creating an account on other websites so I'm not sure moving is a good idea though I guess it might be helpful to clarify. Crouch, Swale (talk) 18:39, 10 July 2026 (UTC)
