"Michael." is a song by American singer Rebecca Black, self-released on August 7, 2026. The song is a comedic love letter written to Michael Polansky, the fiancé of Lady Gaga.[1]
Background
During an interview, Rebecca Black described the origin of the song as, "We were in the middle of doing something else and thought what if we switched it up and tried something? I don’t know why, but we got on this tangent of talking about Lady Gaga's fiancé, Michael Polansky", before stating the song started as a joke.[1]
Reception
The Music Universe said "The single is a dreamy, playful, queer anthem about challenging the obvious romantic choice". The writer, Buddy Iahn, also commented on the music video saying "Black complements her slick, futuristic hits with expressive visuals that amplify her music by portraying the deeper messages of her songwriting".[2][unreliable source?]
Music video
The release of the song was accompanied by a music video, which was directed by Black herself and Sabra Binder.[3]
