As suggested, I've added a selection of screenshots which should be illustrative. I shouldn't think the non-standard but sensible icons will confuse, but feel free to replace with vanilla versions if that adds something other than retro-uglification. Not necessarily. I think this article can cover the aspects of different implementations of this feature, perhaps with each OS/implementation under its own heading. Wikipedia users could then easily compare and contrast them. The problem of storing and organising operating system files is a different problem from that of distributing and installing application files. The method that has evolved in RISC OS is quite different from those employed in Windows or Unix based OSes, and there is much to compare and contrast. The link with betwinner app "application directory" is somewhat superficial – it would be like arguing that a description of the contents and organisation of the WINDOWS directory should be listed under Folder. nemo (talk) 09:35, 3 October 2011 (UTC)Reply
