Sports venue vs Arena
Is a sports venue really identically with a arena? For me as non native speaker an arena could be a sports venue, but not every arena is a sports venue.--Ma-Lik (talk) —Preceding undated comment was added at 09:43, 23 August 2008 (UTC)
- I agree with you that not all arenas hold sporting events. I was also surprised that the page "Sports venue" redirects here, since arena is only one type of sporting venue. Julius Sahara (talk) 07:05, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
English names for foreign arenas/sport venues
Is arena always sensible term to use for translation of non-English names for 'arenas'? Specifically for instance in Slovene and in some other Slavic languages 'indoor stadium' is called 'dvorana', which is basically hall - like Tivoli Hall. Article about sport venues does not list any halls at all. For instance only Arena Stožice is also in Slovene called 'arena', but Zlatorog Arena is in Slovene 'dvorana'. List of indoor arenas for example also has Tabor Hall, which is also 'dvorana'. --xJaM (talk) 14:34, 9 November 2012 (UTC)
