Why not 'Sharyn'?

Why is this article called 'Charyn' rather than 'Sharyn'? If there is a reason, it should be explained somewhere in the article. 207.172.134.7 (talk) 19:06, 29 June 2021 (UTC)Reply

"...means 'White stream' due to its trapezoidal shape"?

Under the heading "Description" the final sentence states "In the Zhalanash valley, the canyon is called Aktogay, which means White stream in Kazakh, due to its trapezoidal shape." This is nonsensical. "White stream" has nothing to do with trapezoids or shapes of any kind, nor vice-versa. I know that in Kazakh, "ak" is a prefix meaning "white", but "togay" is a mystery to me. Can anyone explain this? Bricology (talk) 10:58, 10 April 2022 (UTC)Reply
