Different calendars
The global statement "...a year with 365 days" is in error. This applies ONLY to the Gregorian calendar. The Jewish and Muslim calendars, at a minimum, have different definitions for the common year. For a start, consult the table under the entry "year" in Merriam-Webster 3rd Int'l Unabridged. Lisztman (talk) 21:19, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
Date unlinking
People have been linking all the years recently, and I have reverted it according to the Manual of Style, Wikipedia:Link#Chronological_items, which says "Year articles (1795, 1955, 2007) should not be linked unless they contain information that is germane and topical to the subject matter".
Also, some people have been taking the [[ and ]] from around the [[Common year starting on Monday|began]] statements - please don't, as that just leaves it saying "Common year starting on Monday|began".
Finally, I've unlinked a few of the "Common year starting on..." links, because we only need to link each one once. -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 15:31, 5 February 2011 (UTC)
- I've also now unlinked the days, again as per WP:MOS - we don't link common and well-known terms, unless the target article has some material germane to the topic itself. -- Boing! said Zebedee (talk) 15:34, 5 February 2011 (UTC)
Addition of trivia to the lead
The following trivia was added to the lead:
The month-pairs of January and October, April and July, as well as September and December also begin on the same day of the week, as the number of days between corresponding dates in each pair is divisible by 7. For example, April 2025 and July 2025 both began on a Tuesday, as there are 91 days between the 1st of each month, exactly 13 weeks.
May, June, and August never begin on the same day of the week as any other month. In 2025, they began on Thursday, Sunday, and Friday, respectively - unlike any other month that year.
