The bonfire is lit on Saturday in Sweden (or rather, the parts where the practice exists). So the article is incorrect. I'm not sure how to fix it though, because of the article's structure and because it's not clear to me if this goes for Denmark and other related regions too. No source for any of the information on Germanic pagan ritual, and I was not able to find any sources after a quick search. The map right of the beginning of the article is extremely unprofessional, since it originates from the Low Saxon Wikipedia and is not based on a scientific source. The source is that I live in Austria and have spotted hundreds of easter fires over the course of the last 20 to 30 years. I have even been to an easter fire in Southern Austria last Saturday. As mentioned, the map comes from the Low Saxon-speaking Wikipedia. It's hard to imagine that the Old Saxon language area coincides with the boundaries of this custom by chance. For Low Saxon speakers in the Netherlands, this custom is strongly connected to their identity, and therefore I believe this is not serious research, but political propaganda. ~2026-20905-66 (talk) 15:17, 5 April 2026 (UTC)Reply

I will try to find the original source online and check what it actually says. Since I am from a Low Saxon–speaking area myself, just like the author of the map, I doubt that we are the only ones who have Easter fires, especially against the background that this article is of the exact opinion as well.
