Non-hydrogen fuels
Article seems to be almost entirely about different types of hydrogen fuel cells. (It could mention their use in the Space shuttle.) The only use of fuels apart from hydrogen mentioned in this article seems to be for sensing alcohol and carbon monoxide. Can we have a section on non-hydrogen fuels ? - Rod57 (talk) 17:50, 10 July 2024 (UTC)
- High temp fuel cells can use Methane (Natural Gas). Note that many fuel cells use alkali electrolytes that fail if CO2 is generated, so Hydrogen only (Water vapor exhaust). 75.253.119.222 (talk) 04:54, 22 July 2024 (UTC)

Sputnik 1?
I don't quite understand the mention of Sputnik 1 in the "timeline of fuel cell research" graphic in the "History" section. AFAIK Sputnik 1 was powered by ordinary Silver-Zinc batteries, so what was its impact on fuel cell research? (IIRC only the Gemini craft several years later were the first to use fuel cells to a amount) --Syzygy (talk) 15:09, 18 July 2025 (UTC)
- The event was immediately followed by a big uptick in fuel cell usage. If you've got a better graphic, let's see it. -- Ssilvers (talk) 17:16, 18 July 2025 (UTC)
