Talk:Jab

I'm not sure this page is right. It says 'the three main punches' but neglects to mention "the cross". There are four main punches in boxing: Jab, Cross, Hook and Uppercut. Also the definition of the jab is not correct. It is really "a straight punch thrown from the boxers lead arm" whereas the current definition just talks about distance.

Jab definition

I agree with the precedent comment...The jab is not only defined by its range but most importantly by the fact that it comes from the LEADING HAND. I suggest we add this point to the definition as well as Sonny Liston in the famous boxers for their jabs.

Cheers:)

Sonny Liston

Sorry for my blunder in the previous comment...Sonny Liston is already there! Cheers:)

Jab vs. straight left

Isn't there a difference? AFAIK the jab is always thrown with a motion towards your opponent, and the fist may hang much lower down before the attack than in the straight left (where it has to hang before your nose). This means that in a straight left the fist really goes along a straight line whereas in a jab the fist describes a curve. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.50.73.98 (talk) 19:32, 26 April 2012 (UTC)Reply
