I deleted the mention of cats in Ancient Egyptian libraries. I checked Herodotus's History, Book II, but the famous section about cats does not mention cats in libraries at all. If anyone find Herodotus's description about Egyptian library cats in some other parts of his work, please write it with the proper citation from Herodotus and the detailed bibliographical information.--saebou (talk) 08:54, 18 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The whole article is strange. I'm British, and have never heard of cats being kept in libraries either historically or in the modern world (as opposed to general mousers being kept in monasteries and houses). The concept of a 'library cat' seems to be American - all the examples in the current article are from the US. Libraries will usually be unattractive to rodents because they don't contain food sources. --Ef80 (talk) 11:13, 7 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
