Quote from article:
- It is widely available throughout Ireland but isn't actually drunk a great deal outside its native Cork
Is this accurate? I was under the impression that Murphy's was fairly popular in much of Kerry; and personally, although I know it's not as widely drunk in say, Limerick city, or perhaps Dublin (although surely there it varies according to the pub clientele), I don't myself know about other places. What about the parts of Waterford or Tipperary nearest to County Cork for example?

The Murphy's Image
I'm not really used to adding photos etc. Could someone add a picture of murphy's stout in place of or as well as the Murphy's red image, as Murphy's is probably more famous for its stout that its red variety! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Everytime (talk • contribs) 17:35, 20 February 2007 (UTC).
Catholic vs. Protestant Stouts
Can't find a good citation for Murphy's as the "Catholic Stout," though everyone in the know seems to think so. Regarding the "Protestant Stout," though: it's not Beamish; it's Guinness. Guinness was founded by Protestants, and didn't have any Catholics in management until the 1960's. See: http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,805967,00.html?promoid=googlep
Beamish certainly was perceived as Protestant. The Beamish family were of that persuasion and still are, in Co Cork. Yes, the Guinness family was and is Protestant, but their beer is so Irish and so universal that to give it a Prtoestant label would be specious. Bill Tegner 08:59, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
Merge
Without specfic reason, I don't support the merge proposal. I see no problem in one article about a brewery and one about a brand. – Ilse@ 22:57, 3 May 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry for the lack of comment, but I was browsing in my down time at work and found both pages before a project landed in my lap. Anyways, if you look at the brewery page, you'll see that a large majority of the text in the article is devoted to their stout. In fact, there is even a paragraph on how it stacks up against Guinness, which this article also possesses. So, I personally find the information redundant. It also doesn't help that Murphy's is referring to the brand, while the Murphy's Brewery is dealing with... the brand. If this article was redone to deal with the brand, while the other was redone to deal with the history and current state of the brewery itself, then there'd be no reason for a merge. However, I do not feel that there will be enough information to warrant having two different pages, seeing as there definitely is not now. Kurrurrin 18:21, 4 May 2007 (UTC)
Cleanup
This article needs a rewrite, it lacks NPOV, most of the article consists of a review ("compared to guinnes"), and is incoherent. Grinder0-0 18:45, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
