Discussion
This article requires a major edit. The content of the text suggests that a previous editor may at times be referring to engines other than Class U2. This would be understandable; NCC locomotive history, especially that of the various classes of 4-4-0s is complex and potentially confusing. I concur with R.M. Arnold [1] when he writes "... we seem to be in a world of fantasy, of rebuilding, renumbering, reclassifying which, though for the sake of standardisation only, seems merely to complicate the situation."
The list of locomotives in the table is incomplete - there were 18 engines in the class.
Regarding the reference to the LMS 2P locomotive, a comparison of the principal dimensions of the two classes shows that they really quite different.
