Talk:NPL (programming language)

Design considerations for a functional programming language.

"A System for Assisting Program Transformation" indicates that more information about NPL may exist in the paper "Design considerations for a functional programming language.", that was published in The Software Revolution: Proc. Infotech State of the Art Conference, Copenhagen in 1977. It doesn't seem to be online, but I am going to try and find a copy.

Particularly interesting is whether it was NPL or Hope that first featured algebraic data types --- Hudak's frequently-cited history of Haskell credits Hope, but I'm unconvinced. Drearyplane8 (talk) 12:18, 21 April 2026 (UTC)Reply
