The first sentence of the article (not counting the hatnote, infobox, etc.) says
- Neptune is the eighth and farthest known planet from the Sun.
Not true according to our exoplanet article. Please change Neptune's article to say
- Neptune is the eighth and farthest known planet orbiting Earth's Sun.
As far as i can tell, specifying Earth's Sun (instead of just the Sun) is not necessary according to Wikipedia:Manual of Style#Celestial bodies, Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Capital letters#Celestial bodies, or Wikipedia:Naming conventions (astronomical objects), but it is also not wrong. Upon request i can discuss why i think "Earth's Sun" is preferable to "the Sun" in this case.
Wishing everyone safe, happy, productive editing. --70.22.1.45 (talk) 04:45, 27 June 2025 (UTC)
- Our Sun is the Sun – that's why we talk about "Sun-like stars" for stars that are not actually the Sun. You can analogically call the stars around which exoplanets orbit "suns", I suppose, but to force that interpretation in my head it would have had to say "...the farthest known planet from its Sun". Which it doesn't. Double sharp (talk) 05:54, 27 June 2025 (UTC)
- That's not the main issue i want to address. Sorry i wasn't clearer.
- Neptune is not the farthest known planet from our Sun; some exoplanet is. This article need not discuss exoplanets (certainly not in the first sentence), but the first sentence of this article should not be incorrect. Perhaps:
- Neptune is the eighth and furthest of the planets orbiting the Sun.
- or
- Neptune is the eighth and furthest out of the planets orbiting the Sun.
- Neptune is the eighth and furthest of the planets orbiting the Sun.
- (more about "Sun-like stars" later)
- Safe, happy, productive editing, everyone. --70.22.1.45 (talk) 06:08, 27 June 2025 (UTC)
- Okay, I see what you mean. Changed it to "Neptune is the eighth and farthest known planet orbiting the Sun." Double sharp (talk) 06:17, 27 June 2025 (UTC)

- To use that, we would need to label it as an artist's illustration. Please read WP:OR. Thank you. Praemonitus (talk) 16:09, 25 December 2025 (UTC)
- it isnt an artists illustration, it is modified from the same photo on the page Anonymsiy (talk) 16:21, 25 December 2025 (UTC)
- Same principle; your revision is effectively WP:OR. Praemonitus (talk) 14:07, 26 December 2025 (UTC)
