Definition needed
This entry starts with saying how many digits this code consists of, without first giving a definition of what a sort code actually is.
Bankleitzahl
Bankleitzahl, the german term for this thing, redirects to this page. Yet there is but the briefest mention of the BLZ and no section on the german system. This could stand improvement. Not merely because the page could stand globalization but also because of the redirect. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.159.109.167 (talk) 20:19, 29 October 2011 (UTC)
- The redirect of Bankleitzahl to this article was a sloppy bit of editing. Ideally we should have an article dedicated to bank identification codes around the world to which both sort code and Bankleitzahl could be redirected. I have meanwhile undone the redirect in Bankleitzahl and added a "See also" in that article. Martinvl (talk) 20:39, 17 November 2011 (UTC)
The "00" Sort Codes
There is also a range of 00 sort codes. These seem to be only used within IBAN account numbers for international Euro transfers into the UK
Avuba prepaid Euro accounts, held with Raphaels Bank UK had IBANs resembling GBcc RAPH 0099 98nn nnnn nn, a fictitious sort code would be 00-99-98 Revolut prepaid card accounts has IBANs resembling GBcc REVO 0099 70nn nnnn nn, a fictitious sort code would be 00-99-70
Can anyone shed some light on these? UK Payments Sort Code finder has nothing on those. --77.179.101.40 (talk) 22:24, 5 September 2017 (UTC)
