Good start....

The article is a good start, especially on the "what" of tail codes, but a bit more information should be eventually included on some of the "why". For instance, why do Pacific Fleet air wings have tail codes that start with an "N" as opposed, perhaps to a "P" (assuming the "A" for Atlantic Fleet air wings actually stands for "Atlantic", of course). No doubt there are other oddities and mysteries for the uninformed, such as myself.
