Talk:Ulmo

Order within the Aratar

I was just taking a look at the second edition of the Silmarillion and I noticed the following passage regarding Ulmo: "He is next in might to Manwë, and before Valinor was made he was closest to him in friendship." (Valaquenta, page 28)

Now, I agree that he is the third Vala to be mentioned, after Manwë and Varda, but I think the text in this article should state that he is "second in majesty", unless there has been some kind of rectification in subsequent editions of the Valaquenta. --81.208.106.72 (talk) 20:20, 31 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Poseidon?

Ulmo is similar to the god Poseidon in formal function maybe, but then Ulmo is rather a Proteus-type figure (mark both's appearances to wayfarers for telling them some important news), and who is quite obviously modelled after Poseidon is Osse. --91.34.230.135 (talk) 10:40, 12 May 2012 (UTC)Reply
