Talk:Variational inequality

Extremely Stupid Question

Are Variational Inequalities Related to Variational Problems (yes, I very much think they are too...but this isn't mentioned in the article!). Perhaps someone could provide some nice examples of how variational inequalities are related to variational problems (say, by considering some discretisation scheme that can be used to solve Partial Differential Equations?).

The example needs some restrictions. Are we concerned with finding local mimimums or we are assuming a monotonic fuction? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.67.96.123 (talk) 17:21, 22 July 2008 (UTC)Reply
