What does "one point mutation" mean?
The article says:
"Viruses have short generation times, and many—in particular RNA viruses—have relatively high mutation rates (on the order of one point mutation or more per genome per round of replication)."
Perhaps someone knowledgeable about this subject can express that concept in more familiar terms for non-expert readers of this article. (Terms like gene, allele, chromosome, or whatever.)2601:200:C000:1A0:B5B5:2BD0:4339:6E8 (talk) 05:02, 8 February 2021 (UTC)
