Template:GAN changes
This template is used by Wikipedia:WikiProject Guild of Copy Editors to track progress in their month-long copy editing drives. It is also used in Wikipedia:Good articles/GAN Backlog Drives for the same purpose.
Usage
The template creates a table row. It takes up to seven unnamed parameters; the first five are required. Each set of unnamed parameters applies to a specific day of the backlog drive.
Parameters
|1=(required)- The calendar year of the backlog drive date (four digits)
|2=(required)- The calendar month of the backlog drive date (one or two digits; a leading zero is allowed)
|3=(required)- The calendar day of the backlog drive date (one or two digits; a leading zero is allowed)
|4=(required)- The number of articles in the first group of articles being tracked (e.g. a small group of articles on which the drive is focused)
|5=(required)- The number of articles in the second group of articles being tracked (e.g. the total number of articles in the backlog)
|6=(optional)- The number of articles in the second group on the previous day of the drive (typically the same value as
|5=from the previous day) |7=(optional)- The number of articles in the second group at the start of the drive
Syntax
The template must be preceded by wikitext table opening markup, a table caption, and table headers to indicate what the columns represent. See the Example section below.
The template must be closed with table markup. See the Example section below.
Between the opening and closing markup, use as many {{GAN changes}} templates as needed, one per line.
Display
The template will perform math using |5=, |6=, and |7= to show the change in the population of the second group of articles over the past day and since the start of the drive. A red "increase", green "decrease", or blue "no change" icon is displayed to the left of the figure to indicate backlog progress. Note that these colors are the opposite of the typical colors for these icons, since when processing a backlog, a decrease is seen as a desirable change.
