Muhammadiyah University of Magelang
History
Muhammadiyah University of Magelang is one of private university belong to Muhammadiyah organisation. This university is well known as UMM standing for Universitas Muhammadiyah Magelang. This University was founded in 1968. Initially, this University was branch of Muhammadiyah University of Jakarta. Afterward, This University grew step by step, then become bigger and could sustain independently, finally split from Muhammadiyah University of Jakarta. Today, 2008-2013, Muhammadiyah University of Magelang is directed and chairmenend by Prof. Dr. Ahmadi.
Right now, in 2010, Muhammadiyah University of Magelang is planning to develop new building in the Campus II, Campus Mertoyudan. This building is planned for rector office building, faculty offices and other facilities, such as class rooms,cafetaria, Aula and park. Developing new building, hopefully, can support the learning environment and academic atmosphere for student.
Today, Muhammadiyah University of magelang is located in two main areas of Magelang, Magelang City and Magelang Residency:
- Campus I is located in Jl. Tidar 21 Kota Magelang, 56126
- Campus II is located in Jl. Bambang Soegeng, Mertoyudan Magelang
Faculties and Program Studies
Muhammadiyah University of Magelang is categorized as Middle University in Indonesia. Every year, this university receive 1000-1500 student aplication from around Indonesia. Meanwhile, the majority of student is coming from the Central Java, especially from Kedu Area such as Magelang, Temanggung, Wonosobo, Banjarnegara, Kebumen, and Purworejo.
Today, Muhammadiyah University of Magelang offers many program studies for undergraduate students. At least there are six faculties, such as economy, law, education, technic, Health, and Islamic studies.
