Tommy Fung

Tommy Fung (born May 10, 1979 in Hong Kong) is currently working as an accountant at the Caufield Campus of Monash University. Whilst working with numbers takes up his time during business hours, Tommy expands his ability to Sport, Entertainment and Charity work during his free time.

Tommy is a member of the Sandy Crax Mixed Indoor Beach Volleyball team, under the captaincy of Lyndal Argaet. Tommy is a keen strategist and has revolutionised the game with new formations and tactics.

I-Formation File:Http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/b/b3/I vert.JPG The I-formation is a tactic where the players aline themselves straight down the middle of the court like an 'I'. Whilst it leaves the left and right side of the court open for the oposition, it closes down the centre corridor forcing the oposition to play wide.

Horizontal-I The Horizontal-I is an adaption to the Verticle-I formation. In the Horizontal-I, players form a line across the court to cover the middle of the court. Opponents are forced to play the ball short or try to hit over the Horizontal-I to hit the back of the court.

Dice formation The Dice formation is the term used for a basic formation that is able to be used no matter how many players are playing on the team. Players need to count how many members are playing in a game, and then line up the same as that number is displayed on a dice. Whilst this is a tricky formation, Tommy is able to use his strategic ability to quickly analise the correct Dice formation to use depending on the number of team members have shown up to play.

'Flooding' the net Flooding the net is an attacking move developed from the Defensive Flooding tactic in AFL football. Players will rush the net to try to get a touch on the ball. This tactic is used well by the female members of the team when they feel they are not being utilised an want to help out at the net.

The pack formation Taken from an old AFL football tactic, the pack formation is used when receiving the serve from the opposition. Players form a huddle in the middle of the court and then split to cover all zones on the court.

Tommy began his volleyball career in 2005, playing several games off the bench for the Sandy Crax, before becoming an intregal part of the starting line-up in 2006. Tommy has also played several games for the 5 Cougars Thanx Mens Beach Volleyball Team where he is used to form a dynamic Dice-4 formation.

AFL Football

Tommy is a keen supporter of the West Coast Eagles AFL football team. During the Eagles win during the 2006 Grand Final, Tommy was a key member of the team as well as performing at the pre-game entertainment.
