Student Career Problems and Benefits of Career Counselling
Students are often confused by the thought of choosing the right career that gives them a) a lot of money, b) good status in society, and c) great satisfaction.
However, it is not an easy choice. Peer pressure, and family expectations often add to this confusion. Academic scores are also determining factor for career choice, however this is where the discrepancy lies.
Should a student stop pursuing a career because of low academic scores. The answer: No. If the student is determined and passionate about a particular career, the career should be pursued from any institute that accommodates low academic scores. Proper motivation, determination and unbiased career guidance should be provided to such individuals to allow them achieve their higher purpose and complete potential.
It is also possible that a student may have varied interest groups and choice between one from the other for specialization maybe difficult. At such time, the student should have an understanding of his/her strengths and weaknesses in order to decide the right career choice. With today's day and age, student with knowledge from multi-discipline subjects/coursework is much in demand, but that also expects a student to invest more time and resources towards gathering those skills via school or institute based learning and/or practical, experiential training/projects. Unbiased career counsellors help students at this stage as well.
