Audio Journeys by Travel Radio International (TM) consist of on-location interviews with experts and the related sounds of the subjects. Patricia L Lawrence is the executive producer. From 1991 to 2008 Audio Journeys were heard around the world on public radio stations, radio reading services for the print-impaired, and on American Forces Radio to US military bases around the world and their surrounding communities. Currently Audio Journeys are only available on the World Wide Web as audio downloads.

Audio Journeys by Travel Radio International was founded in 1990 as "Innocents Abroad" by the late Stanley A Barr 1933-1996. Stan was a travel-writer, novelist, poet, playwright, globe-trotter, former editor of the Bangkok Post, manager of the internationally acclaimed British rock group Quintessence in the late 1960's and early 1970's. He wrote lyrics for some of their songs including Giant and Sunshine. Stan wrote an unpublished novel "Brother Rock, A Story of Peace and Love"; an account of his years with Quintessence, the first rock group to combine rock and roll and Hindu mysticism into their music. Just as they were about to sign a major recording contract in the USA, the group went their separate ways. The groups lead singer, Phil Jones is now a recording artist specializing in the Australian instrument the Didgeridoo. In the early 1950's, Stan left is parents' home in New Jersey, with his bicycle in tow, and boarded a cargo ship for Europe. It was a novelty for Europeans to see a man on a solo bike ride. In 1959, Mr. Barr was one of the first people to ride a motor scooter across the USA from New York City to Los Angeles. From 1955 to 1961 he was editor of consecutively Scoot Magazine, Imported Auto Trade, and Cycle Magazine.

In 1991 Stan Barr turned his award-winning travel-writing into travel broadcasting, creating an interview radio program he called 'Innocents Abroad' in homage to Mark Twain. He solicited the help of his sweetheart, Patricia L Lawrence to become the audio engineer. Innocents Broad was first aired on Mendocino Public Broadcasting KZYX-FM. The shows reach soon expanded to other public radio stations, Soldiers Radio Network and American Forces Radio Network.

On August 10, 1996 Stan died suddenly of an allergic reaction to a bee sting. He did not know he was allergic to bees. Patricia Lawrence, his love and co-producer of 'Innocents Abroad', quickly got over her shyness, picked up the microphone and continued producing their weekly radio program.

In 1997, Patrica L Lawrence won a Golden Reel Award for "In The Path of Giants", a program about California Gray Whales. In September 1998 the trade publication 'Radio World' featured Ms. Lawrence and the Travel Radio International story.
