Distributed Node B

Distributed Node B is a next generation Node B technology sold by Huawei for the purpose of enabling telecommunications operators to deploy 3G networks faster and at lower cost.[1][2][3] The technology is small, light weight, and features a baseband unit (BBU) and radio remote unit (RRU) that is easy to install, which can reduce costs for operators.[4][1] Since 2006, Huawei has deployed Distributed Node B to upgrade operators' network infrastructure to 3G in Tajikistan, with mobile operator VimpelCom,[2] the United Arab Emirates with Etisalat,[5] Singapore for StarHub[1][6] Japan with EMOBILE,[7] and in Sri Lanka for Bharti Airtel Lanka.[8][3] In 2011, Distributed Node B technology was used in the launch of an LTE TDD network technology in Saudi Arabia by Huawei and Saudi Telecom Company.[9][10]
