The Spiffs were a pioneering power-pop/punk band from Phoenix, Arizona, who gained popularity in the early 1980s. The band was formed in 1979 by **Glenn De Jongh** (later known as Glen Crimson), who served as the vocalist and guitarist. Other members included **Steve Golladay** on drums, **Don Doiron** on guitar, **Walt Boone** on drums and **Bill Webb** on bass.
Recordings
The Spiffs released their only EP, **"Don't Waste Your Money On This Garbage,"** in 1980. This five-song 7" EP was highly prized and received strong regional airplay. The song "Little Teaser" from the EP was included in the FM Rock powerhouse 98 KUPD's compilation "Damn Straight."
Record Labels
The EP on Industry Insulting Records was financed by Clyde Shields, owner of the legendary Phoenix venue The Mason Jar. The band's catalog was later acquired by **Fervor Records**, which re-issued the EP in 2018.
Legacy
Despite their short career, The Spiffs left a lasting impact on the Phoenix punk scene with their wild stage antics and energetic performances. Glenn De Jongh went on to play in other bands such as The Einsteins, The Urge, Box Of Cherries & Bob Welch.
