Muhammad Afzal Javed

Muhammad Afzal Javed (born 10 January 1982) is a sports administrator, former international sportsman (roller), and certified inline hockey coach from Pakistan. He hails from Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. He is a sports administrator, coach, and athlete in the country of Pakistan for roller and inline sports.

Early life and education

Muhammad Afzal Javed has finished his secondary education at Muslim Model High School Lahore. Later he earned his Faculty of Arts (FA) and Bachelor of Arts (BA) from Islamia College, Civil Lines, Lahore.

In his youth, Javed was involved in various sports activities such as field hockey, boxing, taekwondo, and cricket. He later joined a roller skating club where he started training in roller hockey. His first coach was Muhammad Akhtar, the first international speed skater in Pakistan and an international roller hockey player.

Playing career

Javed started his competitive career in the 1990s in the field of roller sports. He competed for Pakistan in both the national and international levels of roller sport championships, such as the Roller Hockey World Championships and Asian Roller Sports Championships.

He has competed in international roller sports competitions in England, Macau, Portugal, France, Malaysia, India, the Netherlands, Japan, Singapore, Canada, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and other countries.

Javed played in the National Roller Hockey Championship in 1997 and 1999, where he won the titles. He led the Pakistan team in the Asian Junior Roller Hockey Championship in Macau in 1998. He subsequently played for Pakistan in the Roller Hockey World Championships in England (2000) and Macau (2002).

Honours and achievements

Muhammad Afzal Javed won several national and international awards for his playing days in the sport of roller hockey. He was the captain of the Pakistan junior team, and he won the bronze medal in Macau's Junior Asian Roller Hockey Championship in 1998.

He also won Best Goalkeeper in the Roller Hockey World Championship in the United Kingdom in 2000. Also, during his career, he won five times the National Roller Hockey Championship.

He has served as a sports administrator, coach, and organizer for skating disciplines.

International leadership and events

Javed founded the Pakistan Roll Ball Federation in 2002.

He served as Chief Coach and Secretary General during the first Pakistan-India Roll Ball competition and later held the same roles for the Pakistan team at the Pakistan-India Bilateral Roll Ball Championship held in Pune, India, in 2005.

In 2024, as President of the Pakistan Skate Football Federation and Team Manager of the Pakistan national team, he led Pakistan's participation in the 15th FIFS Football Skating World Cup in Trabzon, Turkey, where the team finished 4th among the participating nations.

In 2025, as President of the Pakistan Roll Ball Federation, he led Pakistan's participation in the 7th Roll Ball World Cup, held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
