For a long time my bio here just said 

 Hi. My username is Fennec.

I have come to understand that this was basically me seeking a vibe of quasi-anonymity and self-effacement that ultimately derived from gender dysphoria, and I’m fixing that now. call me Maddy for now if we meet in person :)


A brief history:

  • Wikipedia during undergraduate studies starting 2003
  • Helped coordinate some things on Freenode IRC
  • Admin
  • Ran for arbcom, lost by two votes
  • Got summer internship in upstate NY
  • Appointed to arbcom to fill vacancy … lol did nothing with it, sorry :)
  • life happened, job in 2007, moved to SF, had to move down to San Jose in the recession (hated it). eventually moved to NYC, then had a bit of a grand adventure, international travel, lived in London, multi month tour of South America, loved and lost, all that good stuff.
  • back in SF area 2024, helping throw petabytes at GPU farms, messing around with a few communities and the fiber arts

It’s been 17 years, I, um, kinda don’t remember everybody sorry… I’d like to do more editing. Like, making words into better expressions of thought.
