Burton Sankeralli (born ) is a Trinidadian historian and theologian.

Life

Sankeralli's ancestors came to Trinidad from India as indenture workers.[1] He grew up in a Catholic household. He attended the prestigious Saint Mary's College in Port of Spain until fifth form and then dropped out of school. He then studied theology at the University of the West Indies in St. Augustine.

In 1987 he came into contact with the Orisha faith and soon thereafter professed it.

In the 1990s he worked as a freelance writer for the Trinidad Express.[2] In 1995 he published At the Crossroads, a collection of papers for the Caribbean Conference of Churches.

In 2005 he co-founded the Trinidad and Tobago Philosophical Society.

Sankeralli lives in Valsayn.
